Fantastic, authentic Italian food! Great service, nice size portions, endless bread and olive oil. Hidden gem in downtown Athens upstairs from the French restaurant. Highly recommend this place especially for adult family gatherings, prom dates, special dinners.
Worst experience i’ve had at a restaurant in a while. Sat down with 6 of my friends and no one was in the restaurant. We got attention right away but our server had no personality. We proceeded to order. The menu is pricy so my friend and I chose to split a meal. We chose one of the cheaper dishes ($18) and substituted the sausage for meatballs. Our waiter failed to tell us this substitute would be a $5 extra charge. When we got our meal, the pasta was not cooked all the way and the meatballs smelled old and tasted like a tire and we’re rubbery. When we got our check we anticipated it to be around $22 with tip... It was $36. That’s double what the menu said. Just got ripped off and the food was terrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Wish I could complain about our waiter more but he didn’t even tell us his name. Manager told us to come back after we talked to him. NO THANKS
The food was okay. I like the salmon appetizer. Nothing else special. The waiter forgot my bread I had to ask him for it
Went today and had a great dinner with my one year old and fiance. Normally we have a had time enjoying ourselves at more upscale restaurants with children. The ambience was great. The staff were all amazing. I had many questions about the food, all the food is traditional and the pasta is made in house. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. The manager stopped by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.I loved all the food we had and the wine which the waiter suggested was perfect. Will he dinning there again.
The food and atmosphere was great and the servers were really polite and knew about the specials, even if you wanted specific details. My only problem with the restaurant is that I didn't know how to find it. I was looking for a sign that said 'Dolce Vita Trattoria Italiana.' That sign doesn't exist. I can't remember what the actual sign says, but we never would have found the restaurant if I hadn't called and asked where they are.
My boyfriend and I just had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Our server (I cannot remember his name, but he looked JUST like Jim from The Office) was excellent. Good service, the cocktails were great, meat and cheese board was AWESOME, and our entrees were very filling. My boyfriend got the pork and it was the best I have ever had. I had the bolognese and it was fantastic. The pana cotta dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. I would highly recommend this place for a date night spot! I would not bring kids to here— definitely more of a parents night out! Romantic mood lighting.
I came a year or two ago and I loved the lobster ravioli they had.
First time eating here last night, and we couldn't have been more pleased! Our server, Shawn, was friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu, and she offered great recommendations on food and wine. I had the mushroom cream pasta and my gf had the chicken marsala; both were DELICIOUS! Coupled with the perfect recommended red wine, the experience made me feel like I was back in Italy. We will definitely be back!
Amazing food, so glad they reopened as Osteria Athena. Food is amazing, staff is awesome!!!
Unfortunately this USED to be one of the best most authentic locally owned Italian restaurants... my assumption is that all of the high reviews are from when it operated under previous ownership. We experienced under cooked food and hard pasta and a frozen tiramisu. I would not come back, even though growing up in Athens this was always a family favorite.
We happened upon this wonderful Restaurant while staying the night in Athens Georgia! The owners were absolutely wonderful and our meal was delicious and made to order! We wanted to order a bottle of Processo but we were not sure as we thought it maybe to sweet. She allowed us a taste and loved it. We look forward to our return visit and recommend this restaurant highly!
Good but not great. Some my fault, but on the way home I realized they forgot the gelato on my Walnut pie.
Amazing food, wine and service! The roast special is amazing! Definitely recommend!
As good Italian descendants we can tell you that it is the best homemade pasta that we have eaten so far! But if you are really hungry make sure that you order an appetizer or salad and then a main dish!! Excellent place!
Splended fare, but the sauce on the lasagna tasted like it came from a jar.
The place is nice, it's on the second floor overlooking Broad Street, we had dinner, good background music, loud enough to listen but you can hold a conversation without screaming at each other, it is a bit pricey for what it is, but food was good! Go for the Chicken Marsala!
Always have a wonderful experience here. The food is amazing (best Italian in Athens, hands down). It's pricey, but well worth it.
Great house-made specials, there’s no place like it in town! The mushroom cream pasta was delicious, and they also have great deals on wine. I will be back soon!
I actually ate here in May for my sister’s graduation, but the experience was so abominable I feel compelled to write a review months later. They served me and my family “tiramisu” which was a warm soup!!! They said it was straight out the kitchen and they didn’t let the cream set in the fridge, which is essentially like not baking a cake. Thus the lady fingers were still hard and they didn’t appear to use mascarpone cream as the consistency was watery. I understand this is Athens, GA so I was not expecting a life-changing culinary experience, but for the love of God, I don’t know how any business which purportedly cooks Italian food could so egregiously insult their patrons with this paltry simulacrum.
The food, the staff, the wine was all top notch. My wife and I had an impromptu date night and we were going to just stop in for apps. Well, a couple of glasses of wine and some fantastic apps enticed us to order entrees. I’m glad we did. The homemade gnocchi (which I saw the chef making in the kitchen) was incredible. Fluffy goodness with a beautiful homemade marinara to cover. My risotto and roasted lamb was beautiful & my wife loved her pasta! I would highly recommend. Our server, Austin, was knowledgeable about the wine & menu & our glasses were never empty! Well done from a local business by local owners!
Came in with my family and we were so pleased. Italian is my favorite and I tend to be critical. Most restaurants claim to be authentic, but clearly are not. Dolce Vita was spot on! And I LOVE that they make the pasta fresh. To actually see them making it is very impressive. Absolutely amazing dining experience! Fantastic dishes and fantastic service. I can’t say enough great things about it.
Great food! The best eggplant Parmesan I've ever had. Service was good. And price was right!
